Bringing to every-one's attendtion, the next Kent Kite Flyers event, is at Betteshanger Country Park, Sandwich Road, nr Deal.
Just have to talk to the Country Park event organiser as we have a difference on timings, they are now advertising it as 10-4 although we agreed 11-5pm and the latter is the CAA clearnce timings requested.
Parking will be on the edge of the flying field as per last year, come in and as the approach the the new building do not go in to the carpark but go around the roundabout and turn towards the cafe/vistor centre, pass the children's play area, up the slope, and we should be on the left just pass a large Tepee. Please note that the parking is APNR controlled, so make sure that I have your vehicle registration number before leaving, so as i can arranged for our vehicles registration to be given free parking.

we will not be attending, we aim to be at the Jolly Up Unfortunately I was not able to negotiate the date last year for the first one and so the new managements went for the same day in their diary. We are working towards the probability rather than possibility for a two day event with camping in futuer years.

UUUhhhmm, kite buggy workshop? Who's running that? Tim, as far as I know it is some-one from Camber Sands, it was mentioned to me a couple of weeks ago when I met with the operations manager at Betteshanger. I told him that he needs to ensure that the person/club giving the tuition, has the correct insurance not only public liability, but also for tutoring, will also need a risk assessment. I have told him that no way will this be covered by our insurance and we would unwilling to allow it to be used under our insurance and he should also check out Betteshanger event insurance as it classified as an extreme sport. I have got to speak to the lead person at Betteshanger, during this week, as he has changed matters agreed in meetings. Will keep in touch with you about the matter.

If it's the Camber people they should be good for that, plus the guy should have BKSA (old BPKA) instructor qualification/insurance. Changing matters agreed in meetings? Ha! It is Hadlow Group we're dealing with after all. Gill worked for Hadlow College for 10 years, she can give you chapter and verse about their management!

I know, when you think the new visitor centre should have been open by now, and yet they are looking for further funding. Anyway if the Camber people are coming along with all the equipment and insurances etc, then you can come along and fly kites and not worry about buggy demonstrations.

Tim Camber people are doing the kite buggying experience, and Betteshnager have received copies of insurance, risk assessment and instructor competence. This will not interfere with where we are set to fly, I have stated that as they are have the Camber peopl doing the buggying, then our members will not be doing any demonstrationas last year, so no need to bring the relevant equipment. Hope you will still be there on August 5th

I have spoken with the lead at Betteshanger and have agreed their website time will be amended to 11amto 5pm. We should try to be on field and ready to fly by 10am latest 10.30. I am aiming to be there between 9 & 9.30, to give instruction of kite making workshop using our materials, and setting up the red gazebo as we have been requested to trade kites.

Betteshanger are now advertising the day from 10am to 6pm with KKF flying from 11am to 6pm. I do not seem to be included by the Park Manger in general discussions about the day, this is something I will follow up on after the event in feedback. As previously posted if we could be on the flying field by 10am latest 10.30am that would be great, and anyone who has to park in the car park, I will include their vehicle registration number for not being charged for parking.
