Can’t believe that about capstone ,we should make sure we avoid their festival in september with that attitude, I won’t be attending,even though last year was highly enjoyable and really positive comments came from it.

Can’t believe that about capstone ,we should make sure we avoid their festival in september with that attitude, I won’t be attending,even though last year was highly enjoyable and really positive comments came from it. Simon, It is not Medway Council events and parks team who have put obstacles in the way of KKF using Capstone Park, but the bureaucratic attitude of the organisation running the park and ski centre on behalf of Medway Council. My contact at Medway Council, is trying to find a solution to the problems, and I will keep in contact with him, as he wishes the park to be utilised by leisure activity groups other than dog walkers and occassionally bikes not on the cycle track. Obviously the more users they are able to encourage the better it is for the keeping the park as an activity centre. I also understand that the company operating the park needs a) some form of fee for organised and publicisied events b) booking for above 6 weeks in advance c) risk and event assessments d) public liability insurance The last two I obviously can and have supplied. Unfortuantely it is the first one that is the main stubbling block. The second one as we already know we cannot do that far in advance, but I have been giving them up to two weeks notice of wishing to use ( obviously if nothing else is taking place). The third obstacle is the reluctance for KKF to park close to the field and have use of the toilet block ( to which I am able to see company's viewpoint if they let one club use it others wiil demand the same, key may be lost or stolen, toilets made dirty). Against this background the bureaucrat at the centre of the problems is unable to see pass the above for the good of Capstone Park. I will still support Capstone Festival and hope others will follow suit, as I hope eventually there will be some movement so as we may use Capstone Park ad hoc for fly-ins. I personally feel that it is an event not only an good income source for KKF, but also it allows members who attend to converse with the public and always hopeful that one or two of our previous members who loive in Medway will rejoin, or we have a new member join us.

I'm afraid that I will not be coming out to play on Sunday. My car has suffered a major failure in the engine and I am Thanet bound until my mechanic friend can diagnose the cause and make the repair.

So far a couple of maybe's for this coming Sunday at Woodchurch, so will put it out as Woodchurch, unless there is any change or updates from members by Friday evening.

It seems that after not being able to use either Milton Creek or Capstone this Sunday for one reason or another, I will post the venue as Woodchurch, near the cricket pitch. If you intend going please check out the forum for any updates.

From the KKF facebook page, it looks like it was a good afternoon at Woodchurch. I note that a comment was made it was not all KKF members flying, did members of the public borrow some kites or have their own, and was any interest shown in becoming members of KKF( always on the look-out for new members}

It was indeed a pleasant afternoon. As usual for Woodchurch, the conditions at ground level were completely different to those higher up, but we managed to keep some colour in the sky for most of the day, and did have a family group come and fly with us, once we'd made some minor tweaks to their butterfly kite.
