I posted some time ago the events to which KKF had been invited by Essex Kite Group. In the post, I indicated that for two of the events, the committee had decided to post as events which we may attend as a club. The first was last week at Layer Marney. The second is this Sunday:
Kite festival at Wick Country Park, Tresco Way, Wickford Essex SS12 9GP
from 11am to 4pm
There is also a classic car display.
Refreshments on site.
The committee would like to build closer relationships with kite groups throughout the country, but obviously especially those closer to our own demographic.
I intend supporting this event, if the weather is favourable

Further update on the Kite Festival, Wick Country Park from Frank of EKG "Just drive onto the field through three gates and two car parks, and park in the flying area were you want to fly from and have space to fly. We tend to leave the top end bit for the public to fly and for the food stalls and classic cars. The show starts at 11.00AM so it is best to arrive by then. It’s all very informal and laid back, just don’t upset Mark the park ranger- his word is law Please see also map attached. " It would seem that EKG also assist the public in flying kites, which is a normality for KKF.

Barbara, Michael and I attended the above event, wide open space, made welcomed by the EKG, little or no wind, the rain went around where we were, as we could see it in the distance. I was even trying to fly kites on a 30lb line, but just nothing happening. Mike and Barabara along with a few of EKG did find some wind during the day,and had kites flying at over 100 ft, but those that went up did not stay aloft for very long and most of the time it was hard work just keeping the kites in the air.
According to Colin, chair of EKG, the children's workshop made about 100 kites.
Sun was out a lot of the time, and Barbara brought along her own special bread pudding, which more that made up for little flying.
