As stated at the AGM, I have been approached in regard to the above event in North Kent, on the edge of Bromley. I have spoken to the contact who has stated there is no monies for an attendance fee, so I wished to decline the invitation, as it sets a precedent to attend an event without some fee for the club.
However at the AGM one or two members stated that they would like events like this one to be posted, so members can choose whether or not to go along. I am prepared to inform the contact of members attending if any members post that they wish to attend. If members decide to attend any event in the name of Kent Kite Flyers, I hope that they will not pull out as it then leaves Kent Kite Flyers in a bad light.

Whereabouts? We need more details before we can say yes.... Am available..... Gerty thanks for being available. Not sure exactly the venue or times as yet. From my initial conversation it seem like that they were expecting only an hour or so from us, but I did say that if we came along then we would need to have the kites flying for most of the day. As stated at the AGM, I have not refused this event, but was not going to take it further as they were not prepared to pay the club for attending, and I was not going to set a precedent where the club appears for no fee. I will see if any-one else comes forward to volunteer to go the Village Fair, but I will only give it a few more days, before taking a decision with the committee members sometime by middle of next week.

I have no problem with us refusing if there is no fee and the invite does not come from a fellow kite flyer or club.
The reason you gave at the AGM was the distance, and that was my main point, that it is up to members how far they might want to travel and very often venues are within easier distance for us in West Kent.

Just to update members on the request to attend this event. A final decision was taken at yesterday's committee meeting not to attend the Village Fair as a club event, especially in light of they were requesting a fee from us to attend.
If any-one wishes to go along and fly kites, they will not be covered by the club's insurance.
I am prepared to pass the contact's details if any member wishes to have them, if so please pm me.
In regard to distance, this always a consideration when the club is nor offered a fee, as there may be occasions at village events, which would give us an opportunity to promote KKF.
Whereas we often support kite festivals put on by other clubs etc when we do not receive any monies, and maybe quite a distance away such as Dunstable, Brighton, Basingstoke, and this September two festivals in Essex already posted to which KKF have been invited by Essex Kite Group
The committee also stated that there sometimes has to be an executive decision made by me as the community liaison/events co-ordinator as to our attendance.
I will consider each request in its own light and then decide whether to post on the forum to find out if any members wish to attend.
