Hi there,
I've always had an interest in Kites and visiting last weeks Brogdale Cider Festival had a great time chatting with the knowledgeable and friendly guys from the club, they even allowed my young nieces a flight of the 'swallow' kites, which they enjoyed immensely. Thanks guys.
So I got to purchase a fairly basic 'power kite'? and am looking forward to taking things further.
Couple of quick questions,
How do you go about joining the club, and
are there any recommendations for sites to generally fly the kites around the Swale (Sittingbourne/Sheerness) area?
Many thanks,
Steven.

I'm sure Malcolm will fill you in with details of how to join. Glad you and your nieces enjoyed the cider festival. Rest assured the broken swallow was repaired on Monday. Not sure about flying sites around Swale but feel free to come and join us for a fly whether you are a member or not. This weekend I think a few are flying in Tonbridge and on the 11th at Palm bay near Margate.

Thanks for the reply Gareth. Yes, nieces were concerned about the kite, we did offer to pay for it. Glad the swallow is back to full health. Hope to get out to a meeting shortly.

Hi Steven, Have a look on the Home Page at the Flying Sites for Sites near you. Check on the Forum regularly as we choose as to where we be flying on a week to week basis if not attending a Festival as a Club. Glad you enjoyed Brogdale, I was Parachuting Teddy Bears along with Bill our Chairman.
Len.

Hi Steven,
I am Malcolm secretary of Kent Kite Flyers, I was at Brogdale last weekend working in the kite making workshop.
On Sheppey I believe some flying is undertaken at Barton Point and I know that we are also discussing with Kris Staples the ranger at Milton Creek Country Park, flying there on a regular basis.
Membership is £12 per annum for individual membership £18 per annum for family membership. If you join now the initial membership will run until end of 2017. When flying with Kent Kite Flyers you are covered by club insurance and also receive a quarterly club newsletter.
I will send you a membership from my own personal e-mail address which I will let you have by personal message on this forum.
Look forward to meeting up with you.

Hi Steven If you haven't found it yet Tim maintains a very good web-site on flying sites here www.thetankertonkiter.co.nr Where in Swale are you? You could always try Faversham Recreation ground outside football season, unfortunately goal posts and kites don't mix! Or as Malcolm has said Milton Creek Country Park there is a large flat area at the Green Porch Close entrance that we have flown on befor.

Hi Steven,
Just to let you know Kent Kite Flyers are supporting The Capstone Festival at Capstone Country Park, Capstone Road Chatham on Sunday 25th September.
This is a free event to the public organised by Medway Council. Official times are 11am to 4pm. Perhaps you would like to come along. I will personally be assisting in the selling of kites as we have some stock to sell at the request of Medway Council, as no trader was available to come as far as Kent for the day.

Hi Steven,
Following in your expression of interest in Kent Kite Flyers and as it is soon the beginning of our new membership year, I took the opportunity of sending to you last night from my personal e-mail address ( fordcoast...@....) an e-mail with a membership enrolment form attached.
As previously explained any-one may be a member who has an interest in kites, but those who kite board, kitebuggy, kite surf, are not covered by the club's insurance as they are considered extreme sports.
I do hope you will decide to become a member and join our assocation of liked minded people who "fly for fun"
kind regards and best wishes
Malcolm
