When you say us...

I believe the use of the word "us" by Stephen equates to Kent Kite Flyers, but even a ground display may be out of the question if the weather is as bad as forecast. Anyway I shall turn up, clothed as appropriately as I can be.

Barbara & I intend on being there. Can cope with wind just not sure about the rain the Metcheck insists will be there. Will see what we can achieve in whatever conditions we encounter. Mike

Weather report from Walmer. Currently there is a slight drizzle with light wind and not too cold.
Will update at 1pm.
As it is almost on our doorstep we will be there whatever the Gods throw at us.

Walmer Update at 1.30pm. Still a constant gentle rain - guaranteed to soak right through. Wind also still light but wrap up warm as the temperature is dropping. Fish and chip shop on standby.

I hope you manage to get some flying in and to stay warm. Unfortunately I am unable to come along this year due to some ill health. Enjoy the fish and chips!!!

I arrived around 15.00hrs to be met by 5 soggy Kent Kite Illuminators. We sought an open Café to no avail so took refuge in a Shelter on the Green. Gareth arrived suitably dressed for the weather and after putting the world to rights and the weather deteriorating we were cheered up by some dogs coming to see us sporting collars with lights on. The chip shop then drew the hungry ones like a magnet and as the weather showed no sign of improvement I decided to call it a day and left around 16.40hrs. The drive home to Ashford was heavy rain and strong wind. Our apologies to those who turned up to see the spectacle ( yes one family did )but the weather was against us, Unless it changed after I left.

It didn't change. Not sure Mike and Barbara got out of their car. I left after eating a very nice cod and chips.

The only thing that can be said in favour of the evening is there were very tasty fish and chips on offer. Do we try again this year???

Mike didn't Barbara did (get out of the car that is). She went over the road for fish and chips YUM! We had a good fish and chip supper in the car with Steve, then went to BazJan's for coffee and a chat. Many thanks to all who took the trouble to travel through the storm in an attempt to brighten the Walmer sky. Maybe one year we might be able to get favourable conditions for LUTS we just have to try again sometime soon. Mike
